Gujarat Titans extended their winning streak to four matches, showcasing unstoppable form as they surged to the top of the points table. Rajasthan Royals, riding high on two back-to-back wins, were stopped in their tracks. The heavy defeat not only cost them the match but also dealt a blow to their already shaky net run rate.
Rajasthan had a rocky start, losing a couple of wickets early. Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag then put up a decent fightback to stabilize things. Just when the Royals seemed to be turning the tide, Parag (26) was dismissed in a controversial caught-behind decision that swung the momentum back to Gujarat.
As often happens, one wicket led to another, Samson tried to rebuild with Hetmyer, but just when their partnership looked promising, Samson was dismissed for 41, halting their recovery.
After that, Gujarat tightened their grip on the match, and Shimron Hetmyer found himself waging a lonely battle without much help from the other end. His dismissal for (52) ultimately sealed the result, as Gujarat completed a dominant victory by 58 runs. A big plus for the Titans was Rashid Khan’s return to wicket-taking form.
For Rajasthan, Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana claimed two wickets each, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma chipped in with one apiece. However, their lack of bowling discipline proved costly, as they conceded 17 runs through wides.
GT vs RR: 1st Inning
Earlier in the game, Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first, with Jofra Archer making an early impact with a fiery opening burst. Despite the initial pressure, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler dug in to build a solid foundation.
Sai Sudharsan played a mature knock of 82 off 53, with quick contributions from Shahrukh Khan (36 off 20) and Rahul Tewatia (24 off 12) pushing the total to an imposing 217. Rajasthan missed Wanindu Hasaranga, who was unavailable due to personal reasons and apart from Archer, their bowling attack struggled throughout the match.
