CSK Vs KKR: Narine, Rana & Chakaravarthy Dismantle super kings

CSK Vs KKR: Kolkata Knight Riders cruised to a comfortable victory, chasing down the 104-run target with almost 10 overs to spare at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.

Kolkata Knight Riders completely dominated the five-time champions CSK in their own backyard. The Men in Yellow never quite found their rhythm, and they’ll need to regroup quickly moving forward. With KKR wrapping up the chase in almost 10 overs, they not only climbed to third place on the table but also gave their net run rate a massive boost.

Chasing a low target of 104, KKR came out with intent in the Powerplay. Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock attacked CSK’s bowlers, piling up 71 runs in that initial phase and virtually finishing the contest early. They smashed eight sixes between them, with Narine hammering a fiery 44 off just 18 balls. 

From there, Ajinkya Rahane’s (20) calm presence and a solid knock from Rinku Singh (15) ensured the Knight Riders coasted to victory with nearly half their overs still in the bank.

For CSK, their bowlers struggled to make any real impact – though to be fair, they had very little to defend. Against a powerhouse batting lineup like KKR’s, the challenge was always going to be steep. While Noor Ahmad and Anshul Kamboj managed to snag a wicket each, it was far from enough to stop what became CSK’s third straight home loss – a historic first for the franchise.

CSK Vs KKR: 1st Inning

Earlier in the game, CSK crumbled to their lowest-ever total at the Chepauk. Only Shivam Dube (31*) and Vijay Shankar (29) offered any signs of resistance as the rest of the batting lineup faltered.

KKR’s bowlers were clinical right from the start, with Sunil Narine taking charge and bagging three crucial wickets. Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana supported brilliantly with two wickets each, while Moeen Ali and Vaibhav Arora added one apiece to round off a commanding bowling effort that kept the home team firmly in check.
