Delhi Capitals is entering a new chapter under Axar Patel, who has taken over the captaincy after the franchise parted ways with Rishabh Pant. Axar has had a stellar year, leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. Now, he will command a well-rounded squad featuring talents like Abishek Porel, Tristan Stubbs, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Delhi made key acquisitions in the IPL auction, securing Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul, both seasoned players with leadership experience, with Faf named vice-captain. They further strengthened their batting with Donovan Ferreira, though Harry Brook was initially signed but later withdrew, leaving the team yet to name a replacement.

Their pace attack looks lethal, with Mitchell Starc and Dushmantha Chameera leading the charge, supported by T. Natarajan, Mohit Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar. Domestic talent like Karun Nair, after an impressive domestic season, and promising youngsters like Ashutosh Sharma and Sameer Rizvi add further depth. The spin attack includes fresh faces Vipraj Nigam and Tripurana Vijay, with Nigam’s leg-spin bringing variety.

for LSG

The Super Giants, however, are entering a new phase under Rishabh Pant, their record-breaking signing at the 2025 auction. They have injected international firepower into their batting lineup with David Miller, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Matthew Breetzke while retaining the explosive Nicholas Pooran.

Among Indian players, Ayush Badoni retained his spot despite a subpar 2024 season and will be eager to prove himself. All-rounders Shahbaz Ahmed, Arshin Kulkarni, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar provide versatility in the Squad.

Lucknow’s pace attack lacks experienced options, with Shamar Joseph as the only overseas specialist retained via the Right-to-Match card. Their bowling unit took a hit with Mohsin Khan’s injury, prompting them to rope in Shardul Thakur as a replacement. Uncertainty also looms over Mayank Yadav’s availability, but LSG has reinforced their local pace unit with Akash Deep, Akash Singh, and Avesh Khan. Ravi Bishnoi lead their spin department, supported by Shahbaz Ahmed and M Siddharth.

With Rishabh Pant at the helm, Lucknow will be keen to make a strong start and enter in a new era with a victory. However, Delhi has had the upper hand in their recent encounters, winning both matchups in the 2024 season.

Delhi Capitals had a mid-table finish last season, placing seventh, while Lucknow ended with a similar outcome.

PAK Vs NZ: Hassan & Salman Roar as Pakistan clinch 3rd T20I

PAK Vs NZ: Hassan Nawaz’s stunning century and captain Salman Ali Agha’s brilliant fifty propel Pakistan to a record-breaking run chase against New Zealand at Eden Park, Auckland.

From back-to-back ducks in Dunedin and Christchurch to a breathtaking maiden T20I century in Auckland, Hassan Nawaz’s comeback was nothing less than extraordinary. The 22-year-old turned up in style, playing a fearless knock that led Pakistan to a thumping victory with four overs to spare.

Hassan’s power-hitting was on full display, leaving New Zealand’s bowlers clueless and unable to contain the flow of runs. Apart from James Neesham, who maintained some control, every other bowler was put to the sword as Pakistan stormed to a historic win.

Chasing a challenging target of 205, Pakistan required an explosive start, and they got exactly that. Mohammad Haris and Hassan Nawaz wasted no time, launching a brutal assault in the Powerplay. The pair capitalized on the improving pitch, finding boundaries with ease and putting New Zealand’s bowlers under immense pressure. Even after Haris’ dismissal for 41 off 20, Pakistan finished the crucial first six overs at a dominant 75/1, setting the perfect platform for victory.

New Zealand desperately searched for breakthroughs, but their leading bowlers had no answers against Pakistan’s dominant batting display. With short boundaries aiding the batters, even mis-hits raced to the fence, adding to the Kiwis’ frustration. The momentum swung firmly in Pakistan’s favor when Salman Agha stepped up, crafting a fluent 51* off 31 balls.

Meanwhile, Hassan Nawaz, who had struggled with consecutive ducks in previous matches, found his form in style, blasting a blistering century off just 44 deliveries. His explosive knock guided the Green Shirts to a commanding victory with nine wickets, while New Zealand’s bowlers remained helpless in the face of Pakistan’s relentless batting.

PAK Vs NZ: Ist Inning

Earlier in the innings, Pakistan’s decision to bowl first paid off as they struck quickly, dismissing Finn Allen for a duck and sending Tim Seifert back for a quickfire 19 off 9 balls, seizing control of the Powerplay. To prevent from collapsing, Mark Chapman came to rescue New Zealand with a counterattacking innings, crafting a superb half-century alongside Daryl Mitchell to shift the momentum. Despite wickets falling around him, Chapman stood firm, taking charge in the middle overs with explosive hitting.

However, he fell for Shaheen Afridi, leaving short of a well-deserved century by just six runs. Although New Zealand still had overs in hand, Pakistan’s bowlers stepped up at the right time, with Haris Rauf making a key impact by grabbing three wickets in the death overs. However, Michael Bracewell’s quickfire 31 off 18 balls proved crucial, pushing New Zealand for a challenging total of 204, despite Pakistan’s strong comeback.

After two dominant displays, New Zealand are on the edge of securing the five-match T20I series, while Pakistan are desperately fighting to keep their hopes alive. Pakistan faces a do-or-die situation in the third match, as another loss would eliminate their chances of winning the T20I series.

In the first match of the series, New Zealand handed Pakistan a crushing nine-wicket defeat, while in the rain-interrupted second T20I, the Kiwis claimed victory by five wickets.

Pakistan began the series with high expectations, but their campaign has been hindered by inconsistency and difficulty infinding the right team balance. The absence of key openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub due to injuries, along with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan not being part of the T20I squad, has further compounded their challenges.

Although Captain Salman Agha has been a rare bright spot, with occasional support from Shadab Khan and Khushdil Shah, the rest of the inexperienced batting lineup has struggled, frequently crumbling under pressure.

Pakistan’s woes extend beyond their batting struggles, as their once-formidable bowling attack has lost its sharpness. Shaheen Shah Afridi, previously their most dangerous weapon, has not been at his best, while the rest of the bowling unit has failed to trouble the Black Caps. Haris Rauf showed glimpses of form in the second match, but if Pakistan wants to keep their series hopes alive, the entire bowling attack must deliver a strong performance in the upcoming game.

Meanwhile, under Michael Bracewell’s leadership, New Zealand has been relentless. Openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen have delivered explosive starts, laying a solid foundation for the middle order to build on. Despite the absence of key players like Matt Henry, Kane Williamson, and Mitchell Santner, they have demonstrated remarkable squad depth, making them a formidable side to defeat.

New Zealand’s bowlers have been equally ruthless, with Jacob Duffy leading the pace attack brilliantly and Ish Sodhi troubling batters with his effective leg spin. Additionally, every other bowler has played their role impressively, contributing to New Zealand’s strong performances.

PAK vs NZ: New Zealand Wins Again, Extends Series Lead

PAK vs NZ: New Zealand finished at 137/5 with 11 balls remaining in Dunedin on Tuesday, taking a firm grip on the five-match series. This came after Pakistan had set a total of 135/9 in 15 overs during the rain-affected second match.

A dominant display from New Zealand as they secure a 2-0 lead in the series with a strong all-rounded performance. Pakistan showed more resilience compared to their previous match, but they still need improvements to make if they hope to stay competitive in the series.

New Zealand started with a maiden over, but they quickly switched to an aggressive approach as Seifert and Allen engaged in a thrilling display of power-hitting. Both batters looked to outshine each other to clear the boundary.  Together, they cleared the ropes 10 times, effectively taking control of the chase early and leaving Pakistan with little chance to bounce back.

Although neither batter stayed until the finish, they had already done significant damage as Tim Seifert blazed his way to 45 off just 22 balls, while Finn Allen hammered 38 off 16. Later, Mitchell Hay (21 off 16) made a handy contribution, and Michael Bracewell wrapped up the game with 11 balls to spare, sealing the victory.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi started with a maiden over, providing hope for green shirts but that hope quickly faded as the Kiwi openers unleashed an onslaught of aggressive strokes. Haris Rauf was a standout performer, picking up a couple of wickets and proving he’ll be a key player in the upcoming matches. Khushdil Shah delivered a decent performance, but the rest of the bowling attack was too expensive.

PAK vs NZ: 1st Inning

Earlier in the match, Pakistan posted a competitive total, led by a solid knock from captain Salman Ali Agha, who fired 46 off 28 deliveries. He was well-supported by Shadab Khan, who chipped in with a quick 26 off 14, and Shaheen Afridi, who added a useful 22 off 14 balls. Their combined efforts helped Pakistan reach 135/9 in their allotted 15 overs.

For New Zealand, they capitalized on the bowling conditions effectively, with Zakary Foulkes and Michael Bracewell leading the attack, though neither managed to take a wicket. However, the rest of the bowling unit stepped up, as Jacob Duffy, Ben Sears, James Neesham, and Ish Sodhi each picked up a couple of wickets, ensuring Pakistan’s batting lineup remained under control.

The Black Caps dominated the opening match with an impressive performance and will look to carry that momentum forward. On the other hand, Pakistan is eager to reset and bounce back after a dismal display, being bowled out for a mere 91 runs.

Pakistan’s inexperienced batting was evident as they attacked aggressively from the start, failing to read the conditions and adjust accordingly. Four of their top six batsmen were dismissed for single-digit scores, leading to Pakistan’s fifth-lowest total in T20I history.

With a relatively inexperienced batting lineup, it will be up to captain Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Haris to take charge and build a solid foundation but they struggled to adapt to the situation.

New Zealand, on the other hand, were almost perfect in the first T20I. The only downside was a couple of missed opportunities in the field, which they’ll need to address.

Kyle Jamieson made a sensational comeback to the T20I squad, claiming three wickets for only 8 runs, while Jacob Duffy was also in excellent form, finishing with figures of 4/14. The rest of the bowling unit also contributed well throughout the match.

The last T20I at the University Oval was also between Pakistan and New Zealand on January 17, 2024. It was a high-scoring encounter, with the Black Caps posting 224/7 in their 20 overs. Pakistan fell short by 45 runs, ultimately losing the match.

New Zealand’s chase of a modest 92-run target began with a bang, thanks to Tim Seifert’s explosive batting. Seifert led the charge, with Finn Allen playing a supportive role, as the pair made sure the Pakistani bowlers couldn’t find their rhythm. Their partnership laid the foundation for a commanding win.

Seifert’s rapid 44, which ended in the 6th over, had already put the game beyond Pakistan’s reach. With most of the job done, Finn Allen and Tim Robinson wrapped up the chase, steering the Black Caps to a dominant victory in just 10.1 overs.

Pakistan’s bowling attack, typically known for its strength, had a forgettable performance. Abrar Ahmed was the only one to claim a wicket, but it came far too late to make a difference. The team will need to regroup, reassess their tactics, and come up with a better plan to bounce back in the next match.

Earlier in the match, New Zealand’s decision to bowl first paid off as they bundled Pakistan out for just 91 runs. Kyle Jamieson was outstanding, claiming three wickets during the powerplay, while Jacob Duffy finished with excellent figures of 4/14. Salman Ali Agha (18) and Khushdil Shah (32) briefly revived Pakistan’s innings with a 46-run partnership, but the rest of the batters struggled to cope with the bounce and pace, with only three players managing to reach double figures.

Once again, Mumbai Indians have proven why they are one of the most consistent and formidable franchises, displaying true championship spirit to overcome Delhi Capitals, repeating their victory from the inaugural season at the same venue.

Mumbai’s players and fans revel in their latest title, while Delhi grapples with the disappointment of a third consecutive final defeat. Once again, Mumbai has shown why they are a team of champions.

Chasing a target of 150, Delhi appeared to be on track at the halfway point. They began confidently, but things took a turn as both openers were dismissed in rapid succession. With their top three back in the pavilion for just 37 runs, the pressure mounted on a middle order that had been inconsistent throughout the season.

Mumbai quickly seized the opportunity, tightening their grip and maintaining relentless pressure. They didn’t allow any batter to settle, reducing Delhi to 66/5, with the key wicket of Jemimah Rodrigues, who had been the backbone of their innings. At that point, Mumbai appeared to be fully in control. However, a determined fightback from Marizanne Kapp saw her rise to the occasion, finding timely boundaries to keep Delhi’s hopes alive.

However, it was Nat Sciver-Brunt’s timely dismissal of Marizanne Kapp that broke the crucial partnership between Kapp and Niki Prasad at a pivotal moment. From there, the task became too daunting, with Niki Prasad left to fight a lone battle with the tail. In the end, Delhi could only manage 141/9 in their 20 overs, falling short by 8 runs.

WPL 2025 Final: 1st Inning

Earlier in the match, Delhi’s bowlers applied constant pressure, restricting the scoring and leaving Mumbai in a tough spot at 28/2 after 8 overs. The bowlers were relentless, establishing an early dominance. However, captain Harmanpreet Kaur rose to the occasion when it mattered, launching a counterattack with Nat Sciver-Brunt. Together, they lifted Mumbai from a precarious position to one full of hope.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s determined half-century gave Mumbai the vital momentum they needed, putting Delhi on the back foot. Just as Mumbai seemed poised to set a big total, Nallapureddy Charani intervened, breaking the dangerous 89-run partnership and triggering a late collapse. Delhi capitalized on this shift, taking wickets rapidly to limit Mumbai to a total of 149.

For Delhi, Marizanne Kapp was exceptional, delivering a brilliant 4-over spell, conceding only 11 runs and taking two key wickets, setting the tone for the innings.

India secured the title with a stellar performance, while New Zealand, despite their energetic efforts, fell short in their quest for the trophy.

The Men in Blue are the deserving champions of the 2025 Champions Trophy. After falling short in the final in 2017, they successfully completed their mission and regained the title.

The Kiwis were missing their star bowler Matt Henry, who usually sets the tone in their defense, and his absence was noticeable as Rohit Sharma launched an aggressive attack. While Sharma was attacking, Shubman Gill provided steady support at the other end.

The Black Caps required a spark to break the growing opening partnership, and it came from Glenn Phillips, who produced another spectacular moment for his highlights reel. One wicket led to another for New Zealand, as Virat Kohli fell cheaply (1), and from that point, they started to tighten the noose, with the ball spinning more than in the first innings.

The pressure eventually took its toll on Rohit Sharma, and after a strong 105/0, India found themselves struggling at 122/3. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel skillfully rotated the strike against New Zealand’s spinners, bringing some stability to the chase. However, the momentum shifted once more as both players fell after getting starts, leaving India with more to do in their pursuit of 252.

In the end, KL Rahul’s crucial knock of 34 off 33, Hardik Pandya’s 18 off 18, and Jadeja’s 9 off 6 balls guided India to a stunning victory with an over remaining.

For New Zealand, Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner each claimed 2 wickets, while Kyle Jamieson and Rachin Ravindra each picked up 1 wicket.

IND vs NZ: Ist inning

Earlier in the match, Mitchell Santner opted to bat first. Rachin Ravindra provided New Zealand with a strong start, and things were looking good for the Kiwis until he was at the crease. However, Kuldeep Yadav’s twin strikes shifted the momentum in India’s favor.

At that stage, India’s spin quartet tightened the grip with their precise bowling. Daryl Mitchell, who had begun to accelerate, but was dismissed for 63, but Michael Bracewell’s unbeaten 53 off 40 guided the Kiwis to 251.
