The Punjab Kings are back in form! They defeated the Super Kings, handing them their fourth consecutive loss. CSK have not chased down a target above 175 since 2021, and this time, 220 proved just out of reach. Although PBKS were sloppy in the field with four missed chances, it didn’t affect the outcome in the end.

CSK got off to a solid start, with the aggressive opening stand from the Kiwi duo—Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra. They struck early boundaries and played with positive intent. But the momentum shifted quickly after the Powerplay, with Rachin for (36) and Captain Ruturaj for just (1) both dismissed in just six balls.

Though Conway and Dube tried to steady things, they struggled to find boundaries regularly, and the pressure kept piling up.

At one point, CSK looked like they might take control, especially after scoring 19 runs in the 14th over. But Shreyas Iyer made a smart move, bringing back Arshdeep Singh and Lockie Ferguson to regain control. They halted the run flow and pushed the required rate up. Despite a late push from MS Dhoni (27 off 12), the target remained out of reach and Super Kings lost another match by 18 runs.

For PBKS, Lockie Ferguson picked up two, while Glenn Maxwell and Yash Thakur chipped in with one wicket each.

Earlier in the match, PBKS won the toss, and Priyansh Arya wasted no time, launching a six off the first ball. He kept attacking relentlessly, even as wickets fell around him and brought up his maiden IPL century in just 39 balls. After his dismissal for 103, Shashank Singh (52*) and Marco Jansen (34*) chipped in to take Punjab Kings to a substantial total of 219. CSK had the Kings in trouble at 83/5 but failed to capitalize due to fielding errors and inconsistent bowling.

The Royals have begun building momentum with their second successive win in a row and both were impressive performances. After edging past CSK by 6 runs in Guwahati, they now comfortably defeated Punjab Kings by 50 runs on the road.

Following a rough start to their campaign with two straight losses, this victory not only boosts their confidence but alsogives their net run rate a big push. Notably, it’s Punjab Kings’ first defeat of the season, leaving Delhi Capitals as the only unbeaten team so far.

Rajasthan Royals kicked off their defense of 205 runs brilliantly, with Archer taking two wickets in his first over, including the key dismissal of PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer. The pressure continued to mount as Stoinis was also dismissed cheaply, leaving Punjab reeling at 43/3 by the end of the Powerplay.

The early flurry of wickets left Punjab struggling in their chase. RR’s impact player Kumar Kartikeya made an immediate difference, removing Prabhsimran Singh just as he was starting to settle. With the team desperate for a steady partnership, Maxwell and Nehal Wadhera looked to rebuild and took advantage of any loose deliveries they encountered.

Maxwell and Wadhera attempted a gutsy revival, stitching together a quick 88-run partnership off just 52 balls. Wadhera shifted gears with an explosive half-century, while Maxwell played to his strengths with aggressive strokeplay. However, the momentum flipped quickly, as RR’s spin duo from Sri Lanka turned the tide. First, Theekshana deceived Maxwell (30), and before Punjab could stabilize, Hasaranga dismissed the in-form Wadhera (62).

Following those crucial breakthroughs, Rajasthan Royals tightened their hold on the game. Their bowlers executed their plans flawlessly in the closing overs, shutting down the boundary flow just when Punjab Kings needed it the most. Shashank Singh, typically their reliable finisher, barely got a chance to face deliveries and couldn’t produce his usual magic to rescue the innings. Ultimately, Punjab Kings just made 155 in 20 overs while chasing 206.

PBKS vs RR: 1st Inning

Earlier in the match, Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start after being asked to bat first by Punjab Kings. Jaiswal, after a cautious beginning, found his rhythm and took charge, while Samson played a steady hand at the other end, helping build a solid 89-run opening partnership.

Despite Punjab trying various bowling changes to disrupt the flow, they had no answer to the Royals’ aggressive start. Once the platform was set, the middle order took full advantage. Jaiswal smashed a brisk 67, while Riyan Parag finished with a flourish, hammering a fiery 43 off just 25 balls. The fireworks didn’t stop there, Shimron Hetmyer (20) and Dhruv Jurel (13) chipped in with valuable cameos to push Rajasthan beyond the 200-run mark.

Lockie Ferguson was the only real positive for PBKS with the ball, picking up a couple of wickets. However, the rest of the bowling unit struggled to deliver under pressure, especially at the death, where they leaked a costly 55 runs in the final four overs.

NEW ZEALAND SEAL SERIES CLEAN SWEEP AGAINST PAKISTAN! The hosts turned in another complete team performance, dominating Pakistan throughout the series, even without some of their leading players.

Pakistan’s tour was full of missed chances. They started some games well but couldn’t maintain momentum. Winning just one T20I out of a series with five T20Is and three ODIs reflects a disappointing campaign, leaving much to work on for the visitors.

Pakistan had a steady beginning despite losing Imam early to injury, with Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam putting on a decent partnership. Unfortunately, Abdullah (33) couldn’t convert his start into a big score, and Babar fell shortly after reaching fifty. It was a key moment that shifted the momentum.

Once Babar was out for 50, Pakistan’s batting collapsed. The runs slowed down, and wickets fell regularly. Mohammad Rizwan (37) and Tayyab Tahir (33) tried to fight back with short contributions, but it wasn’t sufficient to chase the target without more support from the lineup. However, Pakistan were dismissed for only 221 runs and fell short by 43 runs in the match.

Even though New Zealand didn’t get early breakthroughs with the new ball, they made a strong comeback in the middle overs. The pacers were accurate, with Ben Sears leading the way impressively by taking key wickets. Bringing in Daryl Mitchell turned out to be a great move, as he removed the crucial wicket of Babar Azam.

Michael Bracewell and Muhammad Abbas also contributed with a wicket each. Sears ended the innings on a high note, claiming five wickets and making history as the first New Zealander to take consecutive five-wicket hauls in ODIs.

PAK vs NZ: 1st Inning

Earlier, New Zealand posted a competitive score of 264 in this rain-affected match. Michael Bracewell showed leadership skills with a solid fifty, and Rhys Mariu also supported with his first ODI half-century.

The middle order played a key role in maintaining the scoring momentum, with Henry Nicholls making 31, Daryl Mitchell chipping in with 43, Tim Seifert adding 26, and a few others contributing useful runs as well.

On the Pakistan side, Akif Javed impressed with four wickets and Naseem Shah took two. Faheem Ashraf and Sufiyan Muqeem added one wicket each. Though this was a better bowling performance than in the earlier games, they still gave away some runs at the end.

Lucknow Super Giants returned to winning! This victory reinforced their dominance over the five-time champions, marking their sixth triumph in seven games.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians slumped to their third consecutive defeat despite having their moments in the match. However, LSG’s brilliance in the death overs proved decisive, as Mumbai struggled to chase down 204, losing both openers within the first three overs.

Lucknow Super Giants showed inconsistency with the ball after making early inroads, allowing Mumbai to recover and keep the chase alive. Digvesh Singh struck a vital breakthrough right after the first strategic timeout, and from that moment, the hosts tightened their grip.

Digvesh played a key role in building pressure, while Suryakumar Yadav managed to keep the required run rate under control but found it challenging to score freely on a sluggish wicket.

The dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav for 67 came at a crucial moment for Mumbai, leaving them with a daunting task of scoring 29 runs off the final 12 balls.

With Tilak Varma struggling and eventually retiring out, the entire responsibility fell on Hardik Pandya’s shoulders. On the other hand, LSG executed their death bowling to perfection, with Shardul Thakur striking first and Avesh Khan sealing the win with pinpoint accuracy in the final overs.

LSG VS MI: Ist Inning

Earlier in the game, Lucknow Super Giants got off to a flying start after being put into bat, with Mitchell Marsh delivering an explosive innings of 60-run. However, Mumbai Indians fought back during the middle overs, led by Hardik Pandya’s clever use of slower deliveries.

Aiden Markram’s well-crafted 53 and Ayush Badoni’s steady 30 anchored the Super Giants’ innings before David Miller’s explosive 27 off 14 deliveries powered LSG to a strong total of 203.

For Mumbai, Hardik Pandya was the standout performer with the ball, grabbing his maiden five-wicket haul in T20s.

The defending champions once again outclassed Sunrisers Hyderabad, mirroring their victory in last year’s final. This victory not only reaffirms KKR’s dominance over Hyderabad but also marks their opponents’ third consecutive loss.

Kolkata Knight Riders came out all guns blazing in the Powerplay, with Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana picking up three early wickets to put SRH on the back foot. Andre Russell added to the damage with a key breakthrough, though his spell proved costly.

Meanwhile, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy tightened the screws in the middle overs, making it hard for SRH to recover. Captain Ajinkya Rahane’s strategic decisions worked wonders, particularly when he reintroduced Vaibhav Arora for a spell in the middle phase. It was a brilliant move that led to the crucial dismissal of Heinrich Klaasen, virtually sealing KKR’s triumph.

Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled to find momentum in their chase, and as the saying goes, T20 matches are often decided in the Powerplay. The early bowling spells from Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana proved to be game-changers, shutting down any hopes of a successful chase. None of the SRH batters could leave a lasting impact, prompting a need for them to reassess their strategy. Kamindu Mendis and Heinrich Klaasen tried to turn things around, but the mounting pressure proved too much, resulting in a crushing 80-run loss.

KKR vs SRH: 1st Inning

Earlier in the match, Kolkata Knight Riders recovered well after a shaky beginning to post an imposing total of 201. Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi provided stability in the middle overs, with the latter delivering a well-constructed half-century.

The game took a sharp turn when Venkatesh Iyer went berserk, smashing a rapid 60 off just 29 balls. Rinku Singh then delivered a fiery finishing touch, pushing KKR to the 200-run mark.

The Titans, handed the hosts their first loss of the season while achieving their second consecutive win. It was a well-rounded performance from GT, dismantling an RCB side that entered their first home game full of confidence.

Chasing a moderate target of 170 in Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans maintained the upper hand throughout the match. Their openers played cautiously at the start, evaluating the conditions before picking up the pace. Though Shubman Gill fell for just 14, Sai Sudharsan once again demonstrated his quality by anchoring the innings with another crucial knock. His 75-run stand with Jos Buttler put Gujarat firmly in control, with Jos Buttler providing the explosive strokes needed to complete the chase.

Sai Sudharsan narrowly missed a well-earned fifty by just one run, but Jos Buttler ensured the chase remained smooth. Buttler went on to complete his half-century, and with Sherfane Rutherford at the other end, he finished the game comfortably, securing the victory in style.

Gujarat Titans started aggressively, causing early trouble for RCB by reducing them to 42/4. Just as things looked bleak, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma stepped in to stabilize the innings, building a crucial 52-run partnership. Livingstone then accelerated, displaying his power-hitting skills to reach a valuable fifty, while Tim David’s late onslaught helped RCB finish on a respectable 169.

Mohammed Siraj stood out with the ball for Gujarat Titans, claiming three key wickets, while Sai Kishore contributed with two dismissals in the middle overs.

RCB vs GT: 1st Inning

For RCB, it was a forgettable game as their batting collapsed early, and their bowlers struggled to apply pressure. Despite some promising moments, they fell short in crucial situations and will need to regroup quickly. For Gujarat Titans, it was a nearly flawless performance, although their fielding weaknesses remain a concern they must address.

New Zealand, outclassing Pakistan even without their top performers from the first game. This emphatic victory underscores the incredible depth in New Zealand’s cricketing ranks, reaffirming their status as a dominant force on the global stage.

New Zealand’s bowlers came out firing from the very first over, making the most of the overcast conditions and leaving Pakistan with little breathing space in their chase. Will O’Rourke provided the early breakthrough, while Jacob Duffy partnered with him to maintain pressure. Duffy struck twice, including the crucial wicket of Babar Azam for just 1. Though the duo didn’t add more wickets to their tally, they kept the batters on edge with their relentless short-ball strategy.

Ben Sears then took charge, delivering a fiery spell that rattled the visitors, striking twice in his very first over. Nathan Smith contributed with a wicket, while Duffy added another to his name. However, the real star of the show was Sears, who wrapped up the innings in sensational fashion, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs.

Pakistan never managed to gain momentum in their chase, struggling against the extra bounce that the Kiwi pacers exploited effectively. Ultimately, that led to their downfall.

Pakistan’s batting performance was disappointing, further exposing their struggles with the bat. Several players endured painful blows to the helmet and body, while Haris Rauf had to leave the field after suffering a concussion.

Despite the difficulties, Faheem Ashraf stood as the lone fighter, playing a brilliant knock of 73 off 80 balls. He found solid support from Naseem Shah, who battled hard to register a commendable half-century. However, with a challenging target of 293, Pakistan needed their experienced players to step up but once again, they failed to deliver, allowing another series to slip away.

PAK vs NZ: 1st inning

Earlier in the match, New Zealand posted an imposing total of 293, powered by a phenomenal unbeaten 99 from Mitchell Hay and a solid 41 from Muhammad Abbas. The contributions from the other batters kept the scoreboard ticking, pushing the team close to the 300-run milestone.

On the bowling front, Pakistan found some success through Sufiyan Muqeem and Mohammad Wasim, who claimed two wickets each, while the remaining three bowlers chipped in with one wicket apiece.

The opening match was a thrilling contest that saw momentum shift multiple times, but ultimately, the hosts emerged victorious to take a 1-0 lead. Now, New Zealand will be looking to clinch the series in Hamilton before traveling to Mount Maunganui for the final encounter.

Mark Chapman’s remarkable knock of 132 runs powered the Kiwis to a strong total of 344, providing a solid platform for the bowlers to finish. Alongside Chapman, Daryl Mitchell (76) and debutant Muhammad Abbas (52) made crucial contributions, with Abbas enjoying an impressive start to his international career.

However, New Zealand have suffered a significant setback ahead of the second ODI against Pakistan, as in-form batter Mark Chapman has been ruled out due to injury. The left-handed batter sustained a hamstring strain while fielding, and scans later confirmed a grade-one tear in the affected area.

Meanwhile, Will Young will also miss the remainder of the series as he awaits the birth of his child. In his absence, right-handed batter Rhys Mariu has been drafted into the squad and is expected to make his debut in Hamilton.

On the bowling front, Nathan Smith was the standout performer, picking up four wickets in a disciplined team effort. With momentum in their favor, Michael Bracewell’s side is likely to stick with their successful combination. Their selection options are somewhat limited, but if New Zealand secures the series in Hamilton, we might see Ben Sears and Adithya Ashok get a chance in the third ODI.

Pakistan was left regretting their decision to go into the first match with only four proper bowlers and no specialist spinner. If they hope to stay in contention, they will need to strengthen their bowling attack, with Abrar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem as potential spin options.

In the batting department, Pakistan suffered a setback with Usman Khan ruled out of the Hamilton game due to a hamstring injury, paving the way for Imam-ul-Haq to step in. A collective effort in both batting and bowling will be crucial for Pakistan as they fight to keep the series alive.

The Super Giants have started their IPL 2025 campaign with a strong start. Despite a few late hiccups, their dominant performance in the first half of the chase ensured the result was never in doubt. Abdul Samad’s finishing touch also helped boost their net run rate. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their first home defeat of the season, leaving them with disappointment over their overall performance.

Chasing 191 for victory, the Super Giants suffered an early setback when Mohammad Shami removed Aiden Markram for just 1 run, but LSG stayed composed. Nicholas Pooran played aggressively, while Mitchell Marsh found the gaps consistently, forming a game-changing 116-run partnership off just 43 balls.

Though LSG lost wickets at intervals, the required runs were wrapped up swiftly toward the end. Pooran was the standout performer, smashing 70 runs in just 26 deliveries. Meanwhile, Mitchell March also struck a half-century.

In the final moments, Abdul Samad and David Miller sealed the victory, with Samad’s quickfire 22 off 8 balls and Miller’s 13 off 7 guiding the Super Giants to a comfortable five-wicket win with 23 balls to spare.

Sunrisers Hyderabad found themselves short of a challenging total and desperately needed early wickets in the Powerplay. Mohammad Shami provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Markram, but that was the only moment of relief for SRH. After losing Markram, Pooran and Marsh hammered consecutive boundaries, putting SRH under pressure.

SRH skipper Pat Cummins tried to keep his team in the contest by claiming a couple of wickets, while Zampa and Harshal also contributed, but the boundaries kept flowing. The game was all but sealed in a short span, with former SRH player Abdul Samad finishing unbeaten on 22 off just 8 balls.

SRH vs LSG: 1st inning

Earlier in the match, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to bowl first. His decision paid off quickly as Shardul Thakur struck twice in consecutive deliveries, giving Pant a boost of confidence.

Travis Head launched a counter-attack but fell (47) just short of his half-century. The spinners, along with Prince Yadav, managed to keep things under control, but SRH struggled to accelerate, especially after Heinrich Klaasen’s unfortunate run-out. Several batters played brief yet impactful innings, but none could anchor the team to a competitive total.

For LSG, Thakur picked up four wickets, while Yadav was the most economical bowler with an economy rate of 7.25, helping restrict SRH to under 200.

New Zealand secured a dominant victory over Pakistan, clinching the match by 8 wickets with 10 overs to spare. This triumph sealed the five-match T20I series in favor of the Kiwis, concluding with a commanding 4-1 result.

In response to the modest target, New Zealand started aggressively, piling up 92 runs in the Powerplay. Tim Seifert, in exceptional form throughout the series, led the charge with an explosive knock of 97 off 38 including 10 Sixes and 6 Fours. Finn Allen also provided valuable support throughout the series.

Pakistan’s bowlers found it difficult to contain the relentless Kiwi batting assault, with Sufiyan Muqeem being the lone standout performer, claiming two wickets while maintaining a tight economy. With the pitch favoring the batters, Pakistan’s 128 was never enough to challenge the hosts, who comfortably chased it within 10 overs.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan managed to post 128 runs in 20 overs, thanks to a resilient half-century from skipper Salman Ali Agha as he smashed 51 off 39. Shadab Khan also made a valuable contribution of 28, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled to build partnerships.

New Zealand’s bowling attack was led by James Neesham, who put on a brilliant display, claiming five wickets and finishing with outstanding figures of 5-22. Jacob Duffy also contributed by taking two wickets, while Ben Sears and Ish Sodhi grabbed one each.
