Lucknow Super Giants returned to winning! This victory reinforced their dominance over the five-time champions, marking their sixth triumph in seven games.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians slumped to their third consecutive defeat despite having their moments in the match. However, LSG’s brilliance in the death overs proved decisive, as Mumbai struggled to chase down 204, losing both openers within the first three overs.
Lucknow Super Giants showed inconsistency with the ball after making early inroads, allowing Mumbai to recover and keep the chase alive. Digvesh Singh struck a vital breakthrough right after the first strategic timeout, and from that moment, the hosts tightened their grip.
Digvesh played a key role in building pressure, while Suryakumar Yadav managed to keep the required run rate under control but found it challenging to score freely on a sluggish wicket.
The dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav for 67 came at a crucial moment for Mumbai, leaving them with a daunting task of scoring 29 runs off the final 12 balls.
With Tilak Varma struggling and eventually retiring out, the entire responsibility fell on Hardik Pandya’s shoulders. On the other hand, LSG executed their death bowling to perfection, with Shardul Thakur striking first and Avesh Khan sealing the win with pinpoint accuracy in the final overs.
LSG VS MI: Ist Inning
Earlier in the game, Lucknow Super Giants got off to a flying start after being put into bat, with Mitchell Marsh delivering an explosive innings of 60-run. However, Mumbai Indians fought back during the middle overs, led by Hardik Pandya’s clever use of slower deliveries.
Aiden Markram’s well-crafted 53 and Ayush Badoni’s steady 30 anchored the Super Giants’ innings before David Miller’s explosive 27 off 14 deliveries powered LSG to a strong total of 203.
For Mumbai, Hardik Pandya was the standout performer with the ball, grabbing his maiden five-wicket haul in T20s.
