Peshawar Zalmi secured a dominant victory, making it two wins in a row — a crucial boost at this point in the tournament.
A big positive was Saim Ayub’s return to form; he paced his innings well before accelerating, helping the team score nearly half the required runs during the Powerplay. Ayub was dismissed for 49, and Max Bryant finished things off in style with an unbeaten 38 off 20 balls, guiding Peshawar Zalmi to victory with 7 overs to spare.
With this win, Peshawar Zalmi have now defeated Multan Sultans twice this season, significantly increasing their net run rate.
For Multan, Shahid Aziz claimed two wickets and David Willey chipped in with one, while the rest of the bowling unit went wicketless.
PZ VS MS: 1st Inning
It’s now five consecutive losses for the Multan Sultans, as their season continues to fall apart. Even though they won the toss, almost nothing went their way afterward.
Peshawar Zalmi were in control right from the beginning. Multan’s batting lineup struggled to build any rhythm, frequently losing wickets. Though their top four batters got starts, none of them were able to convert it into a meaningful inning, as Shai Hope was the top scorer with 23 off 21 balls.
However, only a couple of batters managed to reach the 20s, while most failed to get into double figures, resulting in the team crawling to a modest total of just 108.
For Peshawar, Ahmed Daniyal led the bowling attack with three wickets, while Luke Wood and Maaz Sadaqat grabbed two apiece. The remaining bowlers chipped in with a wicket each.
